Store your prayer mat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure can fade the colours. Roll the mat rather than folding it so the foam padding keeps its shape.
Spot clean with a soft cloth, cool water and a small amount of mild detergent, then let the mat air dry flat in the shade. Because of the foam padding, do not machine wash, soak or tumble dry your prayer mat.
Shake the mat out after use and vacuum it gently with a soft brush attachment from time to time. This keeps the velvet pile free of dust, while the reinforced cotton base helps the mat resist dust in daily use.
Never use bleach or harsh chemicals on your prayer mat. They weaken the fibres and can permanently discolour the velvet. Stick to mild detergent and cool water when cleaning.
